Due to the nature of Microsoft Windows Active Desktop the
performance of your computer may be affected by the storage of data on your
desktop.

In the example below we see a desktop with lots of data stored on
it. Some files, such as the video files, can be quite large and drastically
affect the performance of your computer.

To keep the data easily accessible create a folder on a hard disk in
your computer. In the example below the folder is labled "New Folder" and is
located in the "D:\" drive of this machine, some users may not have a "D:\"
hard disk and will use the "C:\" hard disk drive.

Move the files to the new folder by selecting them with you mouse
and holding the "shift" key while dragging them to the new folder.

Create a shortcut to your folder on your desktop by right clicking
the desktop and under "New" click on shortcut.

Follow the on-screen directions and point your new shortcut to your
new folder.

The example below shows a clean desktop with a shortcut to the newly
created folder.
