To improve your system's performance it may be necessary to defrag
you hard drive. Defragmentation should be done about once a month for optimal
performance.
-
To defrag your hard drive start by right clicking your hard
disk in My Computer and choose properties.
|
|
-
Click on the "Tools" tab and choose "Defragment Now"
|
|
-
After clicking "Analyze" notice how this hard drive has a lot of
"Red" fragmented files.
|
|
-
Click the "Defragment" button to start the procedure.
-
Please note that this may take several hours depending on how long it has been
since your last defrag, how fragmented your files are, and how large your hard
drive is.
-
The following image shows a hard disk after defragmentation. Notice how the
"Red" fragmented files have turned to "Blue" contiguous files.
